communication with animals
How do I prepare for a session?

Terri asks that you prepare by thinking through a variety of questions or issues you would like to discuss and write them down to use as a reference when you are on the call with her. This will help you stay on track during the conversation and get the most out of the session time. To connect with your animals, she will utilize your love, intentions to connect, and permission to talk with your animals. You must be open and honest with information to create an accurate conduit of messages from your animal to Terri. Remember this service is for you, so preparing in advance will create an optimum experience. (Please do not send questions ahead of time.)

Do I need to be physically with my animal at the time of the session?

No, but it is enjoyable for most people to have their animal companions nearby. What is essential is that you are in a quiet place and focused. Terri connects with your animal through your heart. It is important that you are not multi-tasking, driving, or otherwise distracted. Please be able to devote all your attention to the process. Also, it is possible for emotions to come up so you want to be where you feel safe.

Can I call at any time to have Terri talk with my animals?

No. You must schedule an appointment time in advance. It can sometimes take 2-3 weeks to get onto Terri’s schedule. So, don’t wait until the last minute if you wish to address concerns that have specific dates involved (for example—surgery, travel, new animal joining the family).

Can I ask brief questions by email or phone messages?

No, unfortunately, this does not facilitate the best communication with accurate information. It is essential that you schedule time with Terri even if you want a short appointment. She focuses on your animals through your energy and needs to have you asking the questions over the phone while she tunes into your animal companions. This process assures a quality result and Terri believes a conversation is the best way to respect your animal’s thoughts, feelings, and needs.

Does my animal have to be ill or have a problem in order to do a consult?

No—in fact many clients call to check in on their animal’s well-being. Often, it is good to learn about what your animals may want or need. They can also provide powerful words of wisdom for the benefit of the human family members.

Can Terri tell why an animal is sick?

Communication with animals provides information that can be helpful for you to tell your veterinarian. Terri does not diagnose illnesses or prescribe treatments. That is the role of the animal health professional. However, she can solicit details from your animal to determine where pain or discomfort exists in their body along with other important information. She is able to assist you and your veterinarian to improve your animal’s circumstances.

Can Terri tell my animal to stop doing a certain behavior?

No, Terri never tells an animal what to do. Rather, she listens to them to learn from their perspective why they are doing a certain behavior. Often, what humans consider to be a bad or annoying behavior can indeed have good and loving intentions behind it from the animal’s reasoning. Once the details are uncovered, then solutions can be discussed, and compromises can be made on behalf of the animals as well as the people. This can lead to resolved behavior issues with beautiful harmony and balance in the home.

A common request is to tell cats to not spray in the house. Or, to tell small dogs to stop marking their turf in the house. These difficult situations can be explored in an appointment with the understanding that the purpose is to gain clarity on why your animal is marking/urinating. Suggestions will be provided that address your animals’ specific issues. Most importantly, both parties (human and animal) usually must make changes to improve the circumstances. A magic fix of simply telling the animal to stop is not realistic from any Animal Communicator.

How does communication with animals work over the phone?

This conversation is not a literal communication such as the manner which people usually talk. It involves connecting with the spiritual aspect of your animal or their higher self. The connection occurs through love and genuine intentions. Terri serves as a conduit by expressing your comments to the animal and providing you with replies from your animal. She will tell you what she sees, feels, hears, and senses during the communication. You can think of it as what our culture calls women’s intuition and know that everyone can do it. Terri has offered her skills for many years and, therefore, has enhanced her abilities to be quick and accurate.

Do I need to have my animals do anything when we are on the phone?

It is best to allow them to do whatever is comfortable. Some animals stay nearby during the appointment, while others go on with their daily routines. Remember to be in a quiet place to facilitate the necessary focus and concentration. You may find that your animal friends notice the energy exchanging from your heart to theirs and will enjoy being with the process. Or, they may simply sleep right through it. Every situation is unique.

Does Terri work on an emergency basis?

No, Terri does not work on an emergency basis. Her schedule is booked in advance so she cannot offer appointments within a short time frame. Based on availability, she will prioritize established clients if their animals are severely ill. For new people with urgent situations, Terri provides referrals to other Animal Communicators that she knows and trusts.

Does Terri need to see a photo of my animal for the appointment?

Terri does ask for a photo to facilitate her connection with your animals. She welcomes you to mail or email (see info on contact page) her a photo in advance. Please limit size of email photos to small jpeg files and one photo per animal. Please send photos at least 3 days in advance of appointment. She will keep the photos on file for future appointments. If you mail a photo and want it returned, simply include a self-addressed, stamped envelope. If it is not possible for you to send photos, then Terri can work with a verbal description.

Are the phone consultations as good as in-person consults?

Yes, what makes it work is your desire to have the conversation and the animals and Terri will make it happen from there. This is a spiritual connection not a physical connection. Therefore, it doesn’t require Terri to be with the animal. She works with clients all over the country and does 98% of her consultations by telephone. This allows for less distractions and more concentrated time to cover your questions thoroughly and succinctly.

When is Terri available for appointments?

She conducts consultations Monday through Friday from 12:00 pm to 6:30 pm Pacific Time. For in-person home visits, it varies depending on her availability and can take longer to get scheduled. When you are ready to set an appointment, simply call 541-484-2020 or email at info@animalwize.com. Terri’s assistant will contact you to help you set an appointment that meets your schedule’s needs.

How do I pay for the appointment?

At the time of scheduling your appointment, you will be asked to provide a credit card number (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express) to hold your appointment time. Please offer the full card number, expiration date and security code. Your privacy will be respected throughout the entire process. Terri uses a professional credit card processing company that assures safe transactions.

Do you have a cancellation policy?

Yes. If you need to cancel or reschedule, we ask that you provide notice of 48 hours prior to your appointment time. If this required notice is not provided, you will be charged in full for a minimum fee of a half hour appointment. (see fees under services) If you have an emergency, then no charge will occur. Please realize that Terri often has people on an urgent issue waiting list to get in sooner but it takes a day or two of phone tag to refill the appointment slot.

Do you have a refund policy?

During your first appointment, if you do not feel Terri is connecting with your animal accurately within the first 10-15 minutes, please tell her and she will stop the consultation and not charge you. If you are unsatisfied with the consultation after completed, Terri welcomes you to discuss the situation and she will work with you directly toward a mutually acceptable resolution.

For classes and events, a credit toward a similar class or event will be provided if the event is cancelled. If no similar class or event is being offered within 6 months, a full refund will be provided. Any cancellation on the part of participant will fall under the cancellation policy of the event, which is provided at time of registration.

Does Terri communicate with animals who have passed on?

Yes, she can help you connect with your beloved companion after they have transitioned out of their body. Her work is always to connect with the spirit of the animal, so it is not very different to reach out to loved ones who have passed on. Terri offers these consultations to help you with closure. It is not uncommon for the animal in spirit form to offer wisdom for their beloved humans. These consults are usually very healing and often quite enlightening.

Can I buy a gift certificate for my friends/family?

Yes, you can absolutely gift sessions to others. Call Terri’s office and her assistant with help you with the details. If you are an established client, Terri offers the consultation at your rate, rather than the rate of a new client. This is a thank you from her for offering your friends her services. Some people give the gift in their own personal card given to their friends/family. Or, we can email you a gift certificate designed specifically for your friends/family that you can present as your gift.

Can Terri talk to other people's animals for me?

No, Terri will not talk to other people’s animals. You must be the primary care giver for a few reasons – to honor the main relationship the animal has with their person, to be able to know details of the animal’s life to validate content, and to be able to ensure changes will occur based on the needs that arise during the session.

“Our first session with Terri was originally scheduled for our sweet Sya-dog who was diagnosed with lung cancer. Unfortunately, she passed quickly before the appointment. During our call we were distraught with grief. We wanted to help our other dog, Sheena, understand what happened with her sister. Much to our surprise, Terri said Sheena suddenly started showing her pieces of meat. Terri asked us if Sheena eats table scraps. We answered no, hardly ever. But then Terri told us Sheena wanted us to know the ham was her favorite. That’s when we remembered we were giving Sya anything possible to help her eat in her final days. And, yes, we were giving both dogs many pieces of meat including ham. Sheena was sad her sister was gone but her request for more ham made us smile. Just like a lab!”
